Music Admission

Admission into the Department of Music at McKendree University is a multi-step process. First and foremost, you must be admitted to McKendree University. To apply for admission, please visit the Admission Office webpage.

Once you have been admitted to the University, you must submit a Department of Music audition application form.  Along with this form, incoming first year students are required to submit a recommendation letter from a current music teacher (band director, choir director, applied lesson teacher, etc.)

After all the required information has been received, your audition will be scheduled. The 2011-2012 audition days are as follows:

Tuesday, December 18, 2012 (Chicago Only - Music Info Session in Chicago Area)

Monday, January 21, 2013 (MLK Day)

Sunday, January 27, 2013 (McK Scholarship Weekend)

Monday, February 18, 2013 (President's Day)

Saturday, February 23, 2013 (Chicago Only - Music Info Session in Chicago Area)

Monday, March 4, 2013 (Casimir Pulaski Day)

You are strongly encouraged to attend one of these days, however, if necessary, private auditions can be scheduled. It is extremely important that you read the audition requirements and meet each requirement in your audition. If you have any questions about a requirement, please contact us immediately.
Shortly after your audition, you will be notified via ‘snail-mail’ of your admission status within the Department of Music. Award amounts will be sent out beginning in early March.

Each step in the admission process is very important; it is necessary that you read all information about each step and fill all forms out completely.
