Transfer Admission

As Illinois’ first college, McKendree continues its tradition of excellence through the ideals set forth in our mission: fostering a commitment to Responsible Citizenship, Engagement with community, pursuit of Academic Excellence, and dedication to Lifelong Learning (REAL). Our philosophy reflects concern for the individual development of our students and a commitment to personalized education.

Our 234 acre campus is home to 43 buildings and 5 residential communities. With an average class size of 14 and over $16 million awarded in institutional aid yearly, our 30 minute commute to St. Louis makes us the ideal university for any student. With 56 undergraduate degree programs, an abundance of internship opportunities, almost 30 athletic programs, and 86 student organizations, it's no wonder our graduates boast a 96% post-graduation success rate.

Admission to McKendree is selective. Decisions are based on school records, including the rigor of curriculum, recommendations and evidence of student leadership. McKendree selects students who demonstrate potential and desire to succeed in a rigorous academic environment.

Each application is reviewed holistically, however, to be considered for admission as a transfer student, applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all coursework completed at the post-secondary level.

Transfer equivalency credit will be determined by the Office of Academic Records according to the policies stated in the Academic Programs and Policies section of the catalog under Transfer Credit.

Application for Re-admission

Students that have previously attended McKendree University and are seeking re-admission must complete an application for transfer admission and supply up-to-date transcripts if they have not attended McKendree for one year or if they have attended another institution since they were last enrolled at McKendree University.

Articulation and Transfer Plans

McKendree University is continually working to make it seamless for those transferring to McKendree from a community college.

Our articulation and transfer plans specify the student degree course plan and transfer credit requirements. View the four-year program plans.

Our transfer guides provide a general education guideline for certain community colleges. View the available community college transfer guides.

McKendree University will give careful consideration to your previous course work and transfer in as many credits as possible. Courses are individually evaluated to determine which are transferable and what requirements have been met. In most cases, credit is issued for courses that have an equivalency to those that are offered at McKendree. Our academic division chairpersons determine which courses will meet a specific degree requirement. Learn more and request an evaluation.
