Academics
Our Educational Philosophy:
Hire faculty who love what they teach and who teach it well. Get faculty and students together, as often as possible, in small rooms. Build classes around discussions and simulations, rather than lecturers and audiences. Make student participation the norm, rather than the exception. A McKendree education is not just about getting the "right" answer. It's about how you get to your answer.
McKendree offers 6 bachelor degree programs in 40 major areas of study. While our on-campus student body numbers nearly 1,400, more than 50 percent of our classes have fewer than 15 students. McKendree provides a low 16-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio. Classes are taught by professors, not graduate students or teaching assistants. More than 90 percent of our professors have the highest degrees in their fields.
McKendree also offers graduate degrees in four areas. These include degrees in several areas of education: master of arts in professional counseling, master of business administration, master of arts in education and master of science in nursing. Our graduate programs are taught by full time McKendree faculty members and distinguished practitioners working in their fields of study, all dedicated to our guiding principle of small classes and participative student involvement.
