Here are two lists that we don’t think any parent of a college-bound student should
miss. Get your loved one started with the admission process today!

Checklist for Becoming a McKendree Student
√ Visit Campus. Visiting a college campus is often times the best way to determine if
a school is the right fit. We recommend students and families visit campus as early
as they like but especially during the junior and senior years. Register to attend
a Preview Day or contact your admission counselor to set up an individual visit.
√ Apply. Your student will need to complete and submit a free, on-line application or submit a paper copy with a $40 non-refundable application fee. They will also need to submit the following:
Submit an official high school or GED transcript
Submit official ACT or SAT scores if not posted on the official high school transcript
Submit official copies of transcripts for all post-secondary institutions attended
Download the counselor recommendation form and have the high school guidance counselor complete and return it to us (first-year
students only)
We will not begin making admission decisions until September 15 of your student’s
senior year.
√ Determine academic scholarship eligibility and attend event in February for first-year students. Find out more about transfer scholarship opportunities.
√ File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). File as soon after January 1 of the year
your student plans to attend McKendree. Contact the financial aid office or your student’s admission counselor for more information regarding the financial aid process. Be sure and list McKendree’s
school code which is 001722.
Notification of academic scholarship amounts and financial aid awards will begin in
March. (The earlier you complete the FAFSA, after January 1, the quicker we will be
able to award your student.)
√ Make that decision. Sign and return the letter of intent along with your tuition
deposit by May 1.
$200 non-refundable tuition deposit for all commuters
$400 non-refundable tuition and room damage deposit for all residents
√ Register and attend a first-year registration session – This summer registration
program is designed to help you and your first-year student start the McKendree experience.
(first-year students only)
√ Be sure your transfer student registers and attends the Transfer Student Orientation
either in the fall or spring.
√ Complete and return the Confidential Medical Exam - your family physician will need to complete part of it.
√ Complete and submit the housing application in order to be placed in to McKendree housing.
√ Register for New Student Orientation – (first-year students only)
