Elementary Education

Overview School of Education Students
Earn a Professional Educator License (PEL) to teach grades 1–6. Special Education/Elementary Education

Earn two Professional Educator Licenses (PELs): one in Special Education (K–age 21) and one in Elementary Education (grades 1–6). This dual program prepares candidates to assess, plan, and deliver instruction for students with and without disabilities in inclusive and specialized settings. Educational Studies

Overview 
This non-licensure degree is designed for students interested in educational roles beyond traditional classrooms. It prepares candidates for careers in diverse settings such as hospitals, correctional institutions, museums, zoos, and other organizations with educational programs. Students tailor the program with guidance from an advisor, selecting coursework aligned with their academic and professional goals. The program includes a variety of educational topics and a chosen area of emphasis, culminating in an internship experience. Note: This degree does not lead to a Professional Educator License in Illinois.
