Center for Faith & Spirituality

Welcome, I am the Rev. Dr. Beverly L. Wilkes-Null (Rev. Bev), University Chaplain; I am 'human' and I am a 'friend of Jesus' who seeks to make room for all people regardless of religious status. Our Bearcat Family includes: Christians who are Catholic and Protestant, Muslims, Hindu, those of the Jewish Faith, in addition to many other faith traditions. Here at McKendree we are tasked with meeting the spiritual needs of our campus community as we celebrate and embrace the diversity that we are able to enjoy. We offer opportunities for students to connect with each other in community and with God.  Wherever you are on your faith journey, know that we are here to support you.  We offer prayer and worship opportunities, as well as chances to learn more about spirituality and your faith tradition.  We invite you to attend bible studies, worship services on and off campus, mission trips, retreats, and other fellowship activities.

“You are the one who lights my lamp..." Psalm 18:28

Mission Statement

We are a diverse learning community of multiple faiths and we welcome those who are non-religious. Within this diversity, we seek to provide a safe, supportive space for growth and development through religious, spiritual, ethical and character development within the McKendree community. We promote understanding and appreciation of the various traditions through educational and cultural programming and a wide range of activities including: worship, educational events, cross-cultural programs, immersion, service, mission trips that enrich students’ hearts and minds. We also seek to celebrate our differences and foster McKendree students who will be effective and compassionate global citizens who seek to be people of good will. Welcome to McKendree!
