University 101

University 101 (UNI 101) helps first-year students successfully transition to college life at McKendree University. Through engaging discussions, campus activities, and connections with faculty and staff, students develop the academic, personal, and practical skills needed to succeed throughout their university experience.

This one-credit course is required for first-year students attending the Lebanon campus.

What Students Will Learn

Students enrolled in University 101 will:

• • Understand the expectations of college and how they differ from high school.
  • Develop effective study, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Learn how to navigate Brightspace, Self-Service, the University Catalog, and the academic advising and registration processes.
  • Explore academic majors, leadership opportunities, and ways to become involved on campus.

  • Understand McKendree University’s mission and the responsibilities of being an engaged member of the campus community.
  • Build skills related to personal responsibility, financial wellness, safety, and conflict resolution.
