State Math Teacher Organization Awards McKendree Graduate
Lebanon, Ill. — McKendree University 2012 graduate Melinda Bayer, of Collinsville,
has received a highly competitive $1,500 Scholarship in Mathematics from the Illinois
Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) organization. The ICTM has awarded up to
five scholars each year since 1988 to help defray their educational expenses. Applicants
must submit their college transcript, letters of recommendation, two essays and a
completed lesson planning form to be eligible.
Bayer received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics with a secondary school
teaching certification in May. She is the second McKendree University graduate in
two years, and the fifth since 2000, to receive the ICTM award.
