Parents Helping Parents

Members of our McKendree family experienced devastating losses as a result of the November 17th tornado in Washington, Illinois, and we're asking for your help.
It is our understanding two families' homes were completely destroyed while a third's is uninhabitable. All of these families have first- year students at McKendree - two are football players and one is a member of the men's wrestling team.

We're hoping as members of the Parent Association, we can rally together and offer support to these families through one or more of the areas listed below:

Sign an eCard

We'll collect your messages of encouragement from now through November 26th. We'll print your messages and send them in a care package that will include McKendree blankets, mugs and other comforts of home from the Parent Association.

Purchase a Gift Card

In talking with the affected students yesterday, it is clear that the families are not necessarily sure what they need at this point. We're hoping sending Wal-Mart, Menards and restaurant gift cards can offer some relief to the families now and/or when they begin the rebuilding process. We’ll make sure they’re delivered to the families on your behalf in a timely manner.

Please send your gift cards to:

Office of Parent Relations
McKendree University

Offer to Help Clean-up

We're not sure if (or when) these families will need help with clean-up of debris and/or other tasks however, we'd like to have a group of McKendree volunteers standing ready to assist if necessary.

Thank you in advance for anything you are able to do to assist these families.
