McKendree University Sets One-Day Goal of 552 Gifts
(LEBANON, Ill., November 2, 2021) — On Nov. 30, McKendree University will participate
in its seventh annual #GivingTuesday, a global movement that encourages generosity
among individuals, communities and organizations. Each year on #GivingTuesday, millions
of people worldwide give back to change their communities. Last year, the University
received 551 gifts, so it is now pursuing a new goal of 552 gifts, which will unlock
$25,000 of alumni challenge dollars to support the University’s Annual Fund.
Under the direction of President Daniel Dobbins, the University seeks to uphold the
continued theme of “One McKendree,” a united community built from many different backgrounds,
values and passions who support the same purpose: to provide a high-quality educational
                        experience to outstanding students.
Gifts made toward the #GivingTuesday campaign this year will impact a variety of areas
at McKendree which include, but are not limited to:
· The Annual Fund, which supports, in part, student scholarships and financial aid, student services, academic instruction and areas of greatest need.
· The Hettenhausen Center for the Arts
· Student scholarships
· Academic departments
· Bearcat athletic teams
· Student organizations and co-curricular activities
· Updates to Bothwell Chapel
In addition, current students at McKendree will be organizing a food drive to support
the Bearcat Pantry on campus during #GivingTuesday. The mission of the Bearcat Pantry
is to eliminate barriers and challenges of food insecurity and hunger so that students
can remain at McKendree University and, ultimately, earn their degrees. The pantry’s
goal is to assist students in need by cutting down on their grocery bills and connecting
them to other resources in an effort to promote independence.
Donations can be made online, by phone at (618) 537-6826 or via email. Gifts may also
be mailed in to the Office of Development, Alumni and Parent Relations at the University.
