McKendree University Achieves Fifth Consecutive Year of Enrollment Growth
McKendree University celebrates an enrollment milestone with its second-largest incoming class and largest transfer class in university history.
LEBANON, Ill., (Sept. 3, 2026) – McKendree University continues its enrollment success with its fifth consecutive year of growth.
The university maintains steady growth as it welcomes its historic second-largest incoming class, with students representing more than 70 countries, territories and states, for the fall 2026 semester. McKendree has also enrolled its largest transfer class in university history for the 2026-27 academic year.
“All members of the One McKendree team work hard to recruit new and retain existing students,” said Daniel C. Dobbins, president of McKendree University. “Those efforts, combined with our commitment to providing an affordable and outstanding student experience both in and outside of the classroom, drive our continuing enrollment success.”
McKendree’s master’s programs are trending upward, with increases in programs like Master of Science in Athletic Training (54%), Master of Health Administration (40%) and Master of Business Administration (23%). Doctoral programs have grown by 8%.
“We continue to see increasing interest not only in undergraduate studies but also in our graduate- and doctoral-level programs,” said Chris Hall, vice president for Admission and Financial Aid. “Students are looking for programs that provide a clear return on their investment, and McKendree is well-positioned to deliver that value.”
A key driver of this continued growth is the university’s Clear Path tuition initiative, designed to make a private education accessible and affordable for more students across central and southern Illinois. Through Clear Path, eligible students pay no more than $16,000 in tuition and mandatory fees per year after McKendree University institutional aid is applied.
Prospective students can experience McKendree firsthand during upcoming Preview Days. These on-campus events give students and families the chance to learn about academic programs, meet faculty and staff, explore student life and tour campus. McKendree’s upcoming Preview Day is set for Saturday, Oct. 3.
