Abbott & Fenner are committed to continuing our efforts at helping those who have the desire and ambition to succeed.  The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.  To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on "What have you done outside the classroom that demonstrates qualities sought after by the post secondary institution that you are hoping to attend?  Also, which of these qualities means the most to you?".  The essay should be between 500 and 1000 words.

American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and CertifiedBackground.com Scholarship

 

CertifiedBackground.com and AACN Launch New Scholarship for Students in Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs.  The new scholarship program will provide $5,000 in support to outstanding nursing students in baccalaureate, Master's, and doctoral programs at AACN member institutions.  To apply for scholarship funding, students must complete an application that requires a brief 250 word essay on their goals and career aspirations in nursing.  Winners will be announced within 60 days of each submission deadline, which are set for January 31, April 30, July 31, and October 31 each year.

Associated Colleges of Illinois

 

ACI's Scholarship Program has distributed more than $7 million in financial support to more than 3,000 undergraduate students at ACI member colleges and universities throughout Illinois. ACI accepts applications for and distributes scholarships twice each year: fall and spring. By September 30 (fall) and by January 31 (spring), ACI determines the size of the award pool available for distribution to students enrolled at ACI's 22 member institutions. All applicants complete an online application and write an essay describing their goals. Applications are evaluated for each student's GPA, extent of unmet financial need, extracurricular activities, and leadership skills. American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program


The program is open to high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores and juniors.  The renewable scholarships of up to $5,000 to underrepresented minority students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry related fields, such as environmental science, toxicology and biochemistry. Applications-available online at www.acs.org/scholars or by sending an e-mail to scholars@acs.org and will be accepted November 1, 2012 through March 1, 2013. Students must plan to major in or already be majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a chemically-related science, and they must plan to pursue a career in the chemical sciences.  Scholarships range for $1,000 to $5,000, depending on college level and economic need.  Questions call 800-227-5558 ext. 6250 or email scholars@acs.org.


Anderson Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship


Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time in a health occupation program with a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale. Students must be legal residents of the state of Illinois and reside in Madison or St. Clair counties. Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Applications are available in the Office of Financial Aid and are due by May 15, 2013.

Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Program


The Army Nurse Corps Association is seeking applications from qualified students, in conjunction with their college or university for the 2013 Scholarship Program.  The application will be initiated directly by the student.  Questions should be sent by e-mail to education@e-anca.org.  Complete information about eligibility and the application process, to include necessary forms and content requirements, is outlined in the "ANCA Scholarship Program Guidelines and Application" available for downloading, and in some cases completion, at the ANCA website http://e-anca.org under the "Scholarship" tab. 

The cutoff date for submission of application is March 31, 2013.


ASCO Numatics


ASCO Numatics engineering scholarship is merit-based and will be awarded on the candidate's potential for leadership and for making a significant contribution to the engineering, instrumentation, systems, and automation professions, particularly as they relate to the application of fluid control and fluid power technologies. ASCO Numatics will award two, $5,000 scholarships to U.S. engineering students who are pursuing careers in industrial automation-related disciplines.

Barber Scholarship

 

Open to students pursuing Christian service through full-time work in the church.  Full-time work includes those pursuing ordained ministry, Christian Education, Youth Ministry, or other specialized ministries within the church. The fund is designed to give preference to those persons who are from the Iroquois West School District, or were raised in the boundaries of the Iroquois River District, of the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference, of the United Methodist Church.   Applicants may or may not be United Methodist, although some preference will be given to those who are United Methodist.  Applications may be received by contacting the Barber Scholarship Committee at the Onarga United Methodist Church either by fax (815)268-4725, by email/methodistof@att.net, or by mail at 109 Seminary Ave. Onarga, IL 60955-1240.

BCMW Scholarship Program


BCMW Community Services will be awarding 10 (ten) $500 scholarships through the Community Services Block Grant Program.  We will also be awarding a $500 scholarship in memory of C. Russell Rose, former director of BCMW and a $500 scholarship in memory of former board chair, Doris Clark.  The scholarships are available to low-income residents of Bond, Clinton, Marion and Washington counties desiring to further their education at an Illinois accredited college or university.  Eligibility criteria will be based on income, most current grade point average, a 100-200 word career goals statement, three letter of recommendation and an interview with the scholarship committee. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Aid or at BCMW 909 E. The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program rewards achievers inside and outside the classroom and who may not be able to attend college without financial assistance. Community College Transfer Scholarship

 

The Community College Transfer Scholarship Program, in partnership with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, is open to Hispanic students transferring from a community college to an approved, accredited four-year institution. Eligible students are Hispanic Americans who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, full-time undergraduate students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Conference of Women Legislators


The Conference of Women Legislators, a not-for-profit organization and a bipartisan coalition of women legislators in the Illinois General Assembly, have created a scholarship program for women.  The one-year scholarship is worth up to $2,500 for tuition, books and fees; it will not cover room and board.  Applicants must carry at least seven credit hours to qualify, making the scholarships available to part-time students.

Davies-Jackson Scholarship


The Davies-Jackson Scholarship presents a unique opportunity for an outstanding student, who is the first in his or her family to graduate from college, to participate in a course of study in the United Kingdom at St. John's College at Cambridge University, following their graduation.  The two-year, full scholarship to St. John's covers all tuition, fees, room and board during term-time, living expenses during summer vacation, and travel to and from England.  We seek applications from students who have demonstrated enthusiasm for and achievement in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, and who wish to enrich the depth of his or her learning and experience within the British tutorial system.  Applications must be received by November 1, 2012..

Georgia Harkness Scholarship


The Georgia Harkness Scholarship program grants a $5,000 award to those who are chosen as Georgia Harkness Scholars.  This funding can be applied to tuition, fees, and room and board for the basic seminary degree leading to elder’s ordination.  This unique scholarship for women over 35 who are seeking elder's ordination in The United Methodist Church as a second career.  Applicant must be a full time student and have a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher. You may apply online with the Office of Loans and Scholarships between January 4 and March 1 each year.  The award is not available for undergraduate, D. The Gilman Scholarship Fund


The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers a competition for awards for undergraduate study abroad. Awards of up to $5,000 are made for U.S. citizen undergraduates to study abroad. Award amounts will vary depending on the length of study and student need with the average award being $4,000. Eligibility: For any U.S. citizen in good academic standing and who is taking part in any credit-bearing study abroad program for up to one academic year. The Global Studies Grant for Student Travel and Study Abroad


Designed to support foreign language training and other academic studies abroad, this grant provides supplemental funds for American students who already are studying abroad under the auspices of an official study abroad program conducted by an accredited academic institution.  The Global Studies Foundation seeks to support a formative experience abroad for the recipient, who also must share this experience with others upon his or her return - ideally, with multiple audiences and varied media.  We are particularly interested in funding the study of strategically significant countries and languages. Applicants must be US citizens and currently enrolled full-time and in good academic standing in an accredited secondary or post-secondary institution. Among the most significant selection criteria are academic performance (as indicated in courses, grades, recommendations, and other achievements), program merit, and outreach potential. Grant recipients will be expected to acknowledge GSF's support, to report on their experiences, and to work with GSF to share those experiences as widely as possible.

Grover Hermann Foundation Scholarship


The Grover Hermann Foundation Scholarship will award five scholarships in the amount of $2,500 to students with a 2.5 GPA with unmet financial need.

Hancock County Retired Teachers’ Scholarship


Eligible applicants for the Hancock County Retired Teachers’ Scholarships must have been accepted into a Teacher Certification Program.  The applicant must be a senior in high school or a student in college planning to become a teacher.  Applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be a graduate of a Hancock County High School.  Applications for this scholarship may be obtained at the Regional Office of Education in Carthage or Macomb, Illinois, or may be obtained at the Office of Financial Aid.  This scholarship has a value of $500. Applications must be filed at the Regional Office of Education by April 12, 2013.

 


Hispanic Scholarship Fund/Marathon Oil Corporation College Scholarship Program


The HSF/Marathon Oil Corporation College Scholarship Program is a scholarship of up to $15,000 per year.  Selected students may receive up to $15,000 for two academic years for a possible total award of $30,000.  To be eligible a student must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.  Be a current Sophomore majoring in Accounting, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology/Geosciences, Information Technology (IT/MIS), Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Supply Chain Management (Management).  Student must also apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Illinois Great Rivers Conference Merit Award & Leadership Award


From the United Methodist Student Day Special Offering, scholarships will be awarded to students attending a United Methodist-related school, college, university or theological school recognized by the University Senate.  One or more $500 merit awards will be awarded; the number of awards is directly related to the amount allocated to the IGRC from the Student Day Special Offering.

Applicants must be enrolled in a hospital-related health care professional program with a minimum of a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be Illinois residents. Scholarships are based on student’s scholastic achievement, financial need, and availability of funds. Illinois Sheriffs' Association Scholarships


The Illinois Sheriffs' Association plans to award 105 scholarships of a minimum $500 during the 2012-2013 academic year.  Scholarship funds are intended to assist students with the cost of tuition, fees and books only.   Applicants must be permanent Illinois residents.  Scholarships are to be utilized at institutions of higher learning within the State of Illinois.  Students must be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2012-2013 school year.  Applications are now available at local sheriff's offices or the Internet at http://www.ilsheriff.org/

MassMutual Scholars Program


Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) is pleased to announce that its MassMutual Scholars program is now a national scholarship program for high-achieving African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Hispanic students interested in careers in the insurance and financial services industry.  Eligible students of all majors will be considered who are entering their sophomore, junior, senior, or 5th-year senior year at an accredited U.S. college or university.

MLK Scholarship Award


The MLK Scholarship Award is to assist students who are pursuing higher education.  The scholarship is awarded to applicants who best exemplify the ideals of Rev. National Federation of the Blind


For high school seniors through grad school students. National Kidney Foundation

NURSE Corps Scholarship Program


The NURSE Corps Scholarship Program is a selective program of the U.S. Government that helps alleviate the critical shortage of registered nurses currently experienced by certain types of health care facilities by helping needy students complete their registered nurse training. In exchange for the scholarship, upon graduation, the newly minted nurses work at these types of facilities for at least 2 years. Applications are accepted once each year, beginning in March or April and ending in April or May. Applicants selected to receive the scholarship are notified by postal letter no later than the end of July.

Peg Edwards Nursing Scholarship

 The Peg Edwards Nursing Scholarship will award one (1) $1,000 scholarship to the selected applicant upon evidence of enrollment/registration in an accredited nursing program.  Application process consists of completing the scholarship application, personal statement/essay, copy of transcript of school currently attending or most recently attended, and two (2) letters of recommendation.  Deadline to submit application is April 14, 2012.  All applications must be postmarked by the April 14th deadline.  Applications must be submitted by mail and are available in the Office of Financial Aid.

 

PEO Program


A grant eligible for women who are a citizen of the U.S. or Canada, is sponsored by a PEO chapter, had at least 24 consecutive months as a non-student sometime in her adult life, and who is now trying to pursue an education in the U.S. or Canada. Please contact your local P.E.O.

The Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship program awards $330,000 annually to 60 Fellowship recipients.  The Fellowship program is designed to provide support to active Phi Kappa Phi members or prospective members as they prepare to enter graduate or professional studies in the upcoming 2010-2011 academic year.  One requirement is that the applicant may not have earned more than seven (7) semester hours of graduate/professional school credits. Post-9/11 GI Bill:  Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship


Public Law 111-32, the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship, amends the Post-9/11 GI Bill (chapter 33) to include the children of service members who die in the line of duty after Sept. 10, 2001.  The benefit is effective August 1, 2009; the same day the Post-9/11 GI Bill takes effect.  Eligible children attending school may receive up to the highest public, in-state undergraduate tuition and fees, plus a monthly living stipend and book allowance under this program.  More detailed provisions of the Fry Scholarship can be found at www.gibill.va.gov/documents/Fry_Scholarship.pdf.


Press Club and Journalism Foundation


The Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis and Journalism Foundation are accepting applications for their various communication student scholarships.  The scholarships include; the Press Club Media Scholarship, Communication internship scholarships, and also a variety of other scholarships given by the Journalism Foundation.  All awards are given to students who are from the bi-state Greater St. Louis Region.  The application deadline for each scholarship and internship is Friday, May 3, 2013.

The RMT Charitable Trust Scholarship is open to anyone that graduated from an Effingham County high school. The student must be planning to enroll or be enrolled as a full-time student at a college or university.  Criteria for the scholarship are listed within the application.

Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship


One Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to study abroad will be available for students whose permanent address is in Rotary District 6510, which covers the southern tip of Illinois (from below Collinsville and Effingham to Cairo).  Virtually all expense will be paid, up to $25,000.  Applicants should be college juniors, seniors, or graduate students in the academic year 2010-2011.  They must have the endorsement of one of the 48 Rotary Clubs in District 6510.

St. Clair County CAA Scholarship


This program is funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Community Services Block Grant and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must be a high school senior or adult enrolled in undergraduate studies or occupational training at an accredited two or four-year college in the State of Illinois for the Fall 2010 academic year.  Applicants must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours for the Fall 2010 semester, resident of St. Clair County, possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.4 and meet the income guidelines.  (Please see application for the income guidelines.)  Applicants selected for scholarship consideration must appear before the scholarship committee for an interview.  Should applicants have any questions regarding the program, please contact the Community Services Department at (618) 277-6790 extension 3263.
