Long-Time Technical Director Receives President’s Award for Professional Excellence

(LEBANON, Ill., May 20, 2025) – Doug Magnussen, long-time technical director at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts at McKendree University, was recently awarded the President’s Award for Professional Excellence.

The winner of this award shines as an ideal example of an ambassador of McKendree University and is respected by the entire campus community. They take on many roles outside of their primary duties and responsibilities and epitomize the One McKendree spirit through their leadership and outstanding service to the university.

Magnussen began working at McKendree in 2006. From expertly managing every production on the Hett stage to supporting the university’s students, staff, and visiting artists alike, he is the quiet force behind the curtain who makes the magic on the Hett stage possible. He is known for his outstanding leadership, unwavering dedication and the many contributions he has made to the McKendree campus community.
