Four McKendree University Students Receive Phi Eta Sigma Founders Fund Scholarships

(LEBANON, Ill., Aug. 22, 2025) – The Phi Eta Sigma National Board of Directors recently announced the Founders Fund scholarship recipients for the 2025-2026 academic year. Four McKendree students, senior Benjamin Anderson, senior Jonathan Davenport, senior Raeghan Henrichs, and senior Divine Favour Ozomma, were named as recipients of the scholarship and were deemed to have met the necessary criteria of involvement in Phi Eta Sigma, along with holding a high scholastic record.

A resident of Wetaskiwin, in Alberta, Canada, Anderson is majoring in business administration in marketing and is a member of the men’s hockey team. He also had been nominated as co-president of McKendree’s Phi Eta Sigma chapter for the 2024-2025 academic year.

A resident of Lithonia, Ga., Davenport is majoring in exercise science and sport performance and minoring in sport psychology. He is a member of the men’s hockey team.

A resident of Highland, Ill., Henrichs is majoring in biopsychology and minoring in sport psychology. She is a student ambassador at McKendree.

A resident of Richmond, Texas, Ozomma is majoring in biopsychology and is a member of the university’s Honors program. She is also a member of the women’s track and field team, a member of the university’s Black Student Organization, and was a research assistant for Dr. Guy Boysen, professor of psychology at McKendree University.

“Our Founders Fund scholarship program is one of the things we’re most proud of,” said Executive Director Dr. Mary Lee Caldwell. “Every member contributes to it through lifetime dues, ensuring our mission continues for future generations. This year’s recipients truly exemplify the purposes and mission of Phi Eta Sigma – we couldn’t be prouder.”

Since 1940, Phi Eta Sigma has awarded over $7 million in scholarships. Today, the Founders Fund annually recognizes members with three $10,000 Scholar of the Year awards, six graduate scholarships, 37 undergraduate scholarships, and additional Elevate awards.
