Patriotic Band Concert on Nov. 10 Honors Military, First Responders
Veterans Admitted Free to Nov. 12 Football Game at McKendree
(LEBANON, Ill., October 27, 2016) — Military Appreciation Week activities at McKendree
University will include a “Salute to Freedom” band concert on Thursday, Nov. 10 at
7:30 p.m. at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts.
Join the university’s Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Jennifer
Moder, assistant professor of music education, for a special performance honoring
our nation’s veterans and local first responders. The patriotic concert will feature
a guest quartet (Nichole DeWall, Brian Pezza, Duane Olson and Mary Jane Moder) and
the Sesser-Valier High School Band, led by 2015 McKendree University graduate Megan
Zurliene. Admission is free.
All active military and veterans will receive complimentary tickets with a military
I.D. on Saturday, Nov. 12, when the McKendree Bearcats football team takes on the
Truman State University Bulldogs. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Leemon Field. Special pre-game
presentations will be given by the Communications Squadron at Scott Air Force Base,
USTRANSCOM Color Guard and the Marching Bearcat Band.
