(LEBANON, Ill., July 25, 2017) - McKendree University has maintained its status as
a “Great College to Work For” in 2017, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education’s
annual survey. It has made the list every year since 2010.
Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions based on enrollment.
This year McKendree University is recognized in the supervisor-department chair relationship
category, among medium-size institutions of 3,000 to 9,000 students.
Since 2008 the Great Colleges to Work For program has provided data about employee
engagement at 232 colleges and universities across the U.S. This year, 45,000 employees
took part in the program, which surveys faculty and staff to determine the key factors
that distinguish great colleges. Of those participants, 79 achieved acknowledgment
in one or more of 12 recognition categories, reflecting essential themes of great
workplaces such as shared governance and senior leadership. Employee feedback from
survey results is the primary factor in determining recognition.
