Assistant Professor of Mathematics
McKendree University seeks a dynamic and engaged tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics (or Statistics) to join our student-focused team.
We are looking for the following qualities:
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, which includes an understanding of individual student needs.
- Investment in ongoing scholarly research, which includes collaboration with students.
- Dedication to university service, which includes recruiting and retaining students as well as helping them flourish intellectually.
The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching actuarial mathematics such as probability, financial mathematics, and applied statistics. The candidate should also have an interest in teaching discrete models and linear algebra.
The Ph.D. area is flexible.
The faculty member will teach 12 credits per semester.
Other responsibilities of the position will include academic advising; serving on university committees; contributing to departmental work such as assessment; and supervising internships, research, and student organizations. Opportunities also exist for contributions to our first-year experience (UNI 101), online programs, the Honors Program, and our new data analytics major.
Candidates must possess teaching experience and have a Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics, or must complete their doctorate before Fall 2023.
