Research Interest
My research interests lie in areas which result in a hands-on application in the music
field. I love discussing ways to improve music education with teachers who are currently
actively working in junior high and high schools.

About David
David Boggs serves as the Director of the Marching Bearcat Band and Pep Bands, serves
as the Director of the Music in Our Schools Programs, and oversees music student recruitment.
He is also Corps Director of the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps from Nashville, Tennessee.
Prior to his appointment at McKendree University he was the Director of Bands at Rolling
Meadows High School (IL) where he conducted all instrumental ensembles as well as
serving as the Executive Director of the nationally renowned Jazz In The Meadows Jazz
Festival. He also served as Director of Bands at Newton High School (IL). In addition,
Mr. Boggs has worked in the music departments of Indiana University and Purdue University.
Previous marching experience includes marching with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps
and teaching with the Cadets of Bergen County and Music City Drum and Bugle Corps.
He has written two educational teaching guides: “Suggestion for Administering a Successful
Jazz Festival’ and ‘The Marching Technique Guide’ prepared for the Smith-Walbridge
Drum Major Clinics and presented at the IAJE and CBDNA Athletic Bands Conferences.
Mr. Boggs is an active marching, concert and jazz adjudicator and clinician in the
Midwest area.
