Bachelor of Business Administration in Sport Management
The management of sport organizations and programs is a recognized area of management
and is accredited by the Commission on Sport Management (COSM). The B.B.A. in Sport
Management is appropriate for students who wish to manage sport-related businesses,
not-for-profit organizations such as fitness centers, community organizations such
as the YMCA, and sport facilities such as stadiums.
The Sport Management major consists of the School of Business Core courses supplemented
with courses in sport management and athletic equipment management. The program is
based on a set of principles covering key content areas: the social, psychological
and international foundations of sport; sport management; ethics; sport marketing;
finance; accounting; economics; the legal aspects of sport; and integrative experiences
involving strategic policies, internships, and a capstone experience.
The general track closely follows the COSM accreditation requirements, while the athletic
equipment Management track focuses on the management of athletic equipment. The general
track in Sport Management is designed to provide students with additional education
and training in key areas important for sport management. These include the basic
economic and social environment of sport business, the financing and operations of
