Senior Accountant

McKendree University seeks a highly motivated individual with a strong analytical skills and detailed knowledge of accounting principles and procedures for its Lebanon, Illinois Campus. The Senior Accountant conducts day-to-day treasury functions and supports all areas of the University to correctly process and report on revenue activities. The individual in this role will develop a detailed understanding of revenue generating processes, including student invoicing, financial aid processing, development activities and sponsored program and federal fund grants. A thorough understanding of the chart of accounts and the ability to connect business processes to accounting practices are critical in this role. As a member of a small, cross-functional team, this position will be instrumental in contributing to changes in policies and procedures that improve efficiency and remain consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the directives of the National Association of Colleges and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Financial Accounting and Reporting Manual for Higher Education, and the University’s Board of Trustees policies and procedures.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other related field and four years of progressively responsible experience in general account or account/finance/budget management. A CPA and experience in not-for-profit accounting is preferred. Additionally, a thorough understanding of accounting principles and two to four years of experience with Ellucian Colleague or other enterprise business system and Microsoft Office products is required. Candidates must show evidence of strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Successful candidate will possess an ability to analyze requirements and complete assigned tasks in required time frame.
