Security Analyst

McKendree University is accepting applications for the Security Analyst position located at its Lebanon, IL campus.  This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, the Security Analyst will perform cyber threat intelligence analysis, correlate actionable security events, perform network traffic analysis and develop corrective action plans for vulnerabilities identified to assist in strengthening the current cybersecurity plan through risk assessments and implementation of new security initiatives.  


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Cyber Defense, or related field.


  • Prior learning and development, project management, and data analysis required.
  • Understanding of life cycle of network threats, attacks, attack vectors, and methods of exploitation.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide training to end users on security initiatives.


  • Minimum 2 years of cyber threat analysis.
  • Unix/Linux command line experience.
  • Experience with malware analysis concepts and methods.
  • Knowledge of architecture, engineering, and operations of at least one enterprise SIEM platform.
  • Demonstrated commitment to training, self-study and maintaining proficiency in the technical cybersecurity domain.
