Head Cheerleading Coach

McKendree University is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a full time head coach for its cheerleading program at its Lebanon, Illinois campus. 

This full time position oversees day-to-day operations of McKendree University’s cheerleading. McKendree University is a member of the Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Head Coach must create an environment that maintains a nationally competitive program that values the educational mission of higher education and the holistic wellbeing of its student-athletes and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree along with 1 year of high school or collegiate cheerleading coaching and recruiting experience
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends are required.
  • Must have knowledge in tumbling and stunting
  • Understanding the McKendree Experience and the value of higher education as it relates to curriculum, campus resources, and student life supports the recruitment and retention of students.
  • Self-motivated, experience-orientated individual with strong communication skills (listening, writing, and speaking) and have an outgoing personality.
  • Some travel is required. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Must be able to work as a team member, be self-directed, and willing to serve as an ambassador of McKendree University.
  • Commitment to working with multicultural and diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of Student Information System (Datatel) and other computer systems (Microsoft Office).
  • Demonstrated experience with risk management strategies.
  • Certified or willing to get certification from the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACA) is required.
