Financial Aid Counselor (2 Openings)

McKendree University is accepting applications for two Financial Aid Counselors. These Financial Aid Counselors will be responsible for evaluating financial aid applications to determine student eligibility, awarding and processing, and record retention for their case load. Counselors will also be responsible for advising students and parents on various federal, state and institutional financial aid programs in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.

Qualifications:  Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree; proficiency with numbers, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a high level of independent judgment and extraordinary customer service skills. Ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with co-workers, students and outside service representatives; interpret and apply a variety of rules, regulations and procedures; exercise initiative in organizing and completing assignments independently and in seeking new ways to improve processes. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel is required.

Experience working with or knowledge of Financial Aid and Title IV Rules and Regulations, NCAA Compliance and Awarding, and VA Benefits for Higher Education and knowledge of computer software systems (Ellucian/Colleague, Department of Education Software, Microsoft Access and VAONCE) are preferred.
