Financial Aid Counselor
McKendree University is accepting applications for a Financial Aid Counselor. This
position is responsible for administering daily system processing within financial
aid software, ensuring office compliance with state and federal regulations, managing
alternative loan process and federal aid processing with Department of Education.
The Financial Aid Counselor will be responsible for evaluating financial aid applications
to determine student eligibility, awarding and processing, and record retention for
their case load. In addition to counseling and advising students and parents on various
federal, state and institutional financial aid programs in accordance with all applicable
rules and regulations.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and at least two to four years of experience
in a financial aid office required along with comprehensive knowledge of federal and
state financial aid rules and regulations. Candidates must also be able to manage
multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. They must
also possess exceptional customer service and organizational skills; strong oral and
written communication skills; and the desire to work closely with a diverse student
population, university employees, and other constituents of the University. Knowledge
of computer software systems including Ellucian/Colleague, Department of Education
Software, Microsoft Access and VAONCE is preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office,
including Excel is required.
