Athletics Business Manager

McKendree University is accepting applications for the Athletics Business Manager position located at its Lebanon, IL campus.  This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with coaches and administrative staff to develop budgets for each area of the department.
  • Supports the Athletic Director with budget analysis and monthly budget reports for each sport.
  • Ongoing management of all athletic budgets and advises the Athletic Director on all fiscal matters.
  • Performs analysis and recommends strategies on department budget resource allocation.
  • Monitors operational and restricted budgets.
  • Uses independent judgment in resolution of fiscal and administrative matters.
  • Provides regular financial reports to administrators, staff and coaches.
  • Processes expense reimbursements, purchasing requisitions, account transfers and deposits.
  • Provides analysis, recommendations and documentation to resolve budget issues.
  • Engages cross-functional colleagues in decision-making when additional input is required.
  • Assists the Director of Athletics in designing and delivering reports and presentations regarding the finances and the working of the department to senior management.
  • Conducts research, collects and analyzes data to prepare reports and documents.
  • Processes and approves credit card expenditures through the Works program.
  • Manages the department ticketing system, to include cost benefit analysis, point of contact for software personnel and sales, negotiating contracts, and reconciling and processing billing statements.
  • Manages petty cash.
  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training athletic department staff.
  • Compiles year-end financial reports for athletic accounts and grants.  Analyzes and adjusts end of year budget amounts.  Reconciles athletic, camp and restricted accounts.  Assists in assembling annual budget for fiscal year.
  • Arranges and coordinates meetings and special events for the department.
  • Organizes/Arranges schedules, appointments, and travel arrangements for key personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent years of related work experience.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, or business office management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and presentation skills are required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Computer proficient especially with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrate ability to lead
  • Ability to contribute to setting and achieving budgets

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters of Business Administration
  • Proficiency in Excel, Ellucian Colleague, University Tickets, Works and Compliance Assistant.

WORK HOURS/CONDITIONS:

Office environment; 40 hours per week.  Required to visit other campus offices.
