Assistant Water Polo Coach
McKendree University is seeking a highly motivated and energetic candidate to serve
as the Assistant Water Polo Coach on its Lebanon, Illinois campus. The water polo
program at McKendree consists of both a men’s and women’s team competing at the NCAA
Division II level as well as a men’s team that competes at the club level.
This position assists the Head Water Polo Coach in all phases of the men’s and women’s
water polo program. The assistant coach will aid in the planning and training for
all three teams, both in and out of the pool, and will be expected to coach and teach
male and female water polo student-athletes, aid in player development, video analysis,
and overall team organization and instruction. The assistant coach will assist the
head coach with administrative duties as assigned, to include but not limited to the
planning of team travel, recruiting, fundraising, and completion of compliance-based
tasks. Frequent travel is required.
The successful candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Collegiate/high school coaching experience.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral communication, written communication, and computer skills are required
- Leadership abilities in both everyday tasks and in high pressure situations are an absolute must.
- Collegiate head coaching experience is preferred as the assistant coach will also serve as the head coach of the men’s club program and will take on a leadership role on pool deck and administratively for this task.
- Collegiate water polo playing experience is desired.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, NCAA Division II rules is strongly desired.
