Area Coordinator
McKendree University welcomes applications for the position of Area Coordinator with the Office of Residence Life. The Area Coordinator is a full-time, live-in position responsible for overseeing a residential area consisting of approximately 280-475 residents, supervising student and professional staff, acting as a University judicial officer, and serving on departmental collaterals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all general administrative and managerial functions of a residential area housing.
- Assist in the procedures of, with an opportunity to oversee Summer Camp Operations and/or Summer Housing Operations, including staff selection, hiring, training, and supervision.
- Serve on collateral assignments within the Residence Life department in consultation with the Director/Assistant Director with possibilities of acting as committee chair.
- Support planning and implementation of social, educational, and cultural programming sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, the department, or by individual living units within the residence life programming model.
- Serve on committees or task forces convened by the University, as assigned.
- Enforce University policies, as set forth in the Student Handbook.
- Directly supervise 1-2 professional staff members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications:
- A Master’s degree.
- 2 or more years of professional post-baccalaureate experience in a residential setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Student Affairs or a related field.
- Knowledge of student learning and development.
- Proficiency in Maxient and Datatel Colleague software.
- Experience in staff hiring, training, and supervision.
- Bilingual language abilities.
The compensation package for this full-time position includes a competitive annual salary, a partially furnished on-campus apartment, and an excellent benefits package, in addition to other advantages, for a 12-month appointment starting July 2021.
