Family Living Center
Family Living Center in East St. Louis is a non-profit service that provides transitional
housing for families who are at that difficult “in-between” stage of finding a permanent
home. FLC also has career services, technology, educational information, and workshops
for parents in residence who are searching for jobs. McKendree volunteers go to the
shelter to spend time with children living there so that the parents can have some
time to themselves.
In addition to just playing games and having fun with the kids, volunteers have an
opportunity to gain a valuable understanding of what homelessness is and how it is
impacting families in our community today.
