First year Bearcats have the opportunity to live in either traditional or suite-style residence halls. Each location offers unique programming for new students to make a smooth transition to college life.


Traditional Residence Halls

Baker Hall    Barnett Hall    Walton Hall

Students living in the traditional residence halls share a room with one other student. Each fully furnished, air-conditioned hall is co-ed by floor and offers one large community bathroom and laundry room on each floor. Both cable and internet are provided for students.


Suite-Style Residence Halls

New Residence Halls East    New Residence Hall West

Both first year and upper class students have the option to reside in the new suite-style residence halls. Four students live in each suite in either 4 private bedrooms OR 2 double occupancy bedrooms. The fully furnished, air-conditioned suites have one bathroom and a common living area. The state-of-the-art residential complex offers a great room, study lounges, fitness center and laundry facility for use by all campus residents.

The Suites

Six students live in each fully furnished, air-conditioned suite which has three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a common living area. The Suites are co-ed with one large laundry room for residents. Both cable and internet are provided for students.

All students at the sophomore level and above have the opportunity to live in either the suite-style or apartment-style residence halls. Each location offers unique programming for upper-classmen as they decide on majors, take on internships, and prepare for life beyond college.


Apartment-Style Residence

McKendree West    McKendree South

Four students live in each air-conditioned apartment which has two fully furnished bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining and living room. All residents have access to the complex amenities, which include an outdoor basketball court, swimming pool, and clubhouse. The clubhouse houses a computer lab, fitness area, laundry facility, big screen TV, ping-pong and pool tables. The McKendree West complex is located adjacent to the Hills Golf Club approximately one-half mile from the center of campus. The Hunter Street buildings are located one block west of the New Residence Halls. McKendree South buildings are located one block east of the entrance to the Hills Golf Club.

Students living in the traditional residence halls, suites or suite-style residence halls are required to purchase a meal plan. Meal plans provide for meals in the dining hall as well as ‘flex-bucks’ that can be used in the 1828 Café. Students residing in the apartment style residence halls are given flex-bucks that can be used in any dining facility.

Ames Dining Hall

The traditional dining hall offers a range of options for each meal, including a burger bar, international cuisine, and vegetarian fare. Ames is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner through the week.

1828 Café

Located in the center of campus, 1828, provides the perfect place to grab a coffee between meals or a Panini when you are meeting with a study group over lunch.
