Master of Arts in Education

The McKendree University Master of Arts in Education (MAED) program focuses on real world educational activities which allow students to develop problem solving and team building skills in a collaborative environment. MAED P-12 courses help teachers meet their state mandated recertification requirements and, for some, achieve additional endorsements in principalship, driver’s education, special education, middle school, or reading teacher.  Course work provides non-tenured teachers the opportunity to move from the initial to the standard certificate in the state of Illinois. The MAED P-12 degree also enables teacher candidates to increase their own salary potential as they move across the salary schedule.  For working professionals, not currently certified in the State of Illinois, the MAED offers numerous tracks to initial teacher certification. Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education certification are available through the master's program. McKendree will offer the MAED in Higher Education Administrative Services online. The program is designed for those seeking to accelerate their career path in higher education or for those wanting to transition from another profession.

McKendree University offers MAED courses on the Lebanon campus, online, and at off-campus sites throughout the state of Illinois. See locations for a specific program at the links below.
