Academic Scholarship Information
Renewability
Students receiving a Dean's or Presidential Scholarship will need to maintain a 2.5
GPA which will be evaluated at the end of the 4th semester. Students receiving an
Honor's Scholarship will need to maintain a 2.8 GPA which will be evaluated at the
end of the 4th semester.
Residency Requirements
Students receiving a McKendree Leadership Award must reside in McKendree University
Housing.
Students receiving an Illinois Community College Scholarship must reside in McKendree
University Housing.
Opportunity to Stack Scholarships
Students can receive only one of the following automatic scholarships: Dean's, Presidential,
Honor's, Transfer or Illinois Community College.
The Leadership Award can be paired with the Presidential or Honor's Scholarships.
The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship can be paired with the Transfer Scholarship.
The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship cannot be paired with the Illinois Community College,
Illinois Community College System Foundation Scholarship, or Provost Scholarship.
The Illinois Community College System Foundation Scholarship cannot be paired with
the Illinois Community College or Transfer Scholarships.
The Provost's Scholarship for music majors/minors cannot be paired with the Dean's,
Presidential, Honor's, Leadership, Transfer, Illinois Community College, Illinois
Community College System Foundation Scholarship, or Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship.
The Legacy Scholarship can be paired with academic and activity based scholarships.
Activity based scholarships such as band, debate, cheerleading, dance, athletic, Model
UN, WYSE, and community service can be paired with the academic scholarships (including
the McKendree Leadership Award for students residing in McKendree University Housing).
Disbursement of Scholarships
Annual Scholarships will be dispersed over the Fall and Spring semesters. Half of
the annual award will be dispersed for each of the Fall and Spring semesters in a
school year. An entire annual scholarship will not be applied to one term.
Students must maintain full time status (12 credit hours) each semester to receive
scholarships.
For students receiving multiple scholarships, McKendree University will choose the
award scenario which provides the most financial benefit to the student.
The following McKendree University scholarships will apply only to McKendree University
tuition charges after Federal and State tuition only grants have been applied: Dean's
Scholarship, Presidential Scholarship, Honor's Scholarship, Leadership Award, Transfer
Scholarship, ICC Scholarship, ICCSF Scholarship, Provost Scholarship, Band Scholarship,
Legacy Scholarship, Debate Scholarship, Community Service Scholarship, WYSE Scholarship,
or YMCA Youth of the Year Scholarship.
McKendree monies will not be refunded to a student should their tuition charges be
less than the amount of their award.
