McKendree Nursing Educators Gain Certification
Lebanon, Ill. — McKendree University nursing instructors Dr. Martha McDonald and Sara
Bolten, RN, MSN, recently gained certification as nurse educators from the National
League of Nursing. The credential is given following successful completion of the
Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) examination.
McDonald, associate professor of nursing, coordinates McKendree’s nursing programs
in Southern Illinois. The Marion, Ill., resident recruits and mentors students in
the university’s RN-to-BSN and MSN programs throughout the region. In April, she received
McKendree’s 2012 Exemplary Teacher Award, given annually by the United Methodist Church
Board of Higher Education for excellence in teaching, concern for students and colleagues,
commitment to values-centered education, and service beyond the classroom.
Bolten, a Louisville, Ky. resident, teaches at the McKendree University campuses in
Louisville and Radcliff, Ky.
