McKendree is Only Illinois School on ‘100 Best College Buys’ List
10/25/2010
Lebanon, Ill. — McKendree University is once again the only Illinois institution to be designated one of “America’s 100 Best
College Buys®” in 2010-2011, for providing the highest quality education at the lowest cost. The university has earned the
distinction numerous times since 1997.
Inclusion is based solely on merit and key criteria of opportunities for financial aid, low tuition cost and excellent academic
standards. Eligible colleges and universities must be accredited, four-year institutions that offer bachelor’s degrees, residence
halls and dining service. Their first-year students must have a high school grade point average or an SAT or ACT score above
the national average for entering freshmen. Finally, out-of-state cost of attendance for three quarters or two semesters must
be below or not exceed by more than ten percent the current national average of $31,959 for tuition, fees, room and board.
“McKendree University is proud to be the only Illinois school among ‘America’s 100 Best College Buys®’ once again,’” said
Dr. James Dennis, president. “We will continue to offer high quality academic and co-curricular experiences while managing
our resources wisely.”
Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc., an independent research and consulting organization in Gainesville, Ga., evaluated
over 1,100 colleges and universities across the country to compile its 15th annual “100 Best College Buys®” report for 2010-2011.
