Biography:

I went to college first at Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri. My majors were Chemistry and Industrial Technology. After college, I went to the University of Missouri in Columbia to get my Ph.D. in Biochemistry.

After graduation, I worked for two years as a scientist at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN; After that I went to Case Western Reerve University in Cleveland, OH as an Instructor in the Anatomy Department of the Medical School for six years. This was followed by twelve years as a scientist at Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc., a pharmaceutical company in Nutley, NJ. During this latter period, I also became interested in economics and business. I went back to school to earn masters degrees in Management and Financial Economics.

In 1995, I left Roche and taught pharmaceutical business and economics at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. During this period, I also taught at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Madison, NJ. In 2001 I moved back to the Midwest, and for one year I taught at Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, WI. Since 2002, I have been teaching economics, finance, and management to undergraduates at McKendree College in Lebanon, IL.

I have a son Benjamin who is a painter, and he lives in Philadelphia, PA. One of my hobbies is to collect slide rules and calculating machines.
