Teaching Interest: 
 
I am the Director of Bands at McKendree College and direct the Marching Bearcat Band, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble. I also teach most of the instrumental music education courses such as Marching and Jazz Techniques, Instrumental Conducting, Band and Choral Organization and team-teach Brass Methods.
 
Research Interest:
 
My research interests lie in areas which result in a hands-on application in the music field. I love discussing ways to improve music education with teachers who are currently actively working in junior high and high schools.

David Boggs is serving his eighth year as the Director of Bands at McKendree College in Lebanon, Illinois , where he is responsible for overseeing the Instrumental Music Program, teaching instrumental music education courses, and directing the Marching Bearcat Band, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble.  Additional duties include serving as the Director of the Music in Our Schools Programs, Co-Coordinating the Midwest Percussion Camp and overseeing music student recruitment.  Prior to his appointment at McKendree College he was the Director of Bands at Rolling Meadows High School, Rolling Meadows, Illinois where he conducted all instrumental ensembles as well as serving as the Executive Director of the nationally renowned Jazz In The Meadows Jazz Festival.  He also served at Director of Bands at Newton High School in Newton, Illinois .  In addition, Mr. Boggs has worked in the music departments of Indiana University and Purdue University .  Previous marching experience includes marching with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps and teaching with the Cadets of Bergen County.  He has written two educational teaching guides:  “Suggestion for Administering a Successful Jazz Festival’ and ‘The Marching Technique Guide’ prepared for the Advanced Marching Techniques Class at the Smith-Walbridge Drum major Clinics.  Mr. Boggs is an active marching, concert and jazz adjudicator and clinician in the Midwest area.
