The First Year Seminars are offered to first year students to provide a transition from high school to the McKendree environment. The course emphasizes both the social and academic aspects of college life. Students in seminar sections are taught by a full-time faculty member who is also the students’ academic adviser and who is assisted by a peer mentor. Each seminar is also linked to an English class and another core course required for all McKendree students to form a learning community. Enrollment is limited to first year students who are not enrolled in ENG 111H (Honors English), ENG 109, or Study Skills.
