Alumni Spotlight
Alumna works in exciting recording-industry career.
Many college students dream of graduating, starting new, and moving to the west coast. For Casey Keller, this dream became a reality. Before her senior year at McKendree, Casey and some friends took a summer trip to California. Upon her 2002 graduation she decided to move to California by herself and without a job.
When she graduated she knew she wanted to find a job where she would fit in and be a valuable asset to the company. Casey applied at EMI Records in Los Angeles, California. Out of 200 applicants she was given a job in the Capitol Records building. After being promoted five times in four years, Casey is now the Senior Recording Analyst for EMI Records. There she is a liaison between the music company and the digital service provider such as iTunes or Sprint downloadable ringtones. She teaches the digital service provider how to report sales back to the company so royalties can be paid back to the artist. At EMI Records, Casey stays very busy and feels that her work is very valuable and treasured by the organization.
Casey also actively participates in charity work. She feels it is very important to find time to give back to the community. She has competed in two marathons, one where she raised money for people in Los Angeles with HIV and AIDS. She also tutors homeless children.
Casey graduated in 2002 from McKendree University with a major in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Finance. She missed being in school, so she started taking night classes at California State – North Ridge, and will receive her Masters in Business Administration in May 2008.
