From the Alumni Director,  Jeff Campbell '87

Greetings!

It is hard to believe, but another academic year is coming to a close.  Commencement ceremonies on the Lebanon campus will be May 10 and for Louisville on June 14. In all, 931 students will soon become McKendree University alumni - that puts our total alumni base over 15,000!

Now that Spring is here, the campus looks beautiful with trees and flowers in bloom.  We wanted to share the beauty with you, so we put some photos on Shutterfly.  Click here to view!

Looking forward, there are already some events planned for the summer and fall:

  • Gateway Grizzlies at Southern Illinois Miners baseball game. Friday July 25 in Marion, IL. Watch for more information!
  • We're planning an alumni/student road trip to Georgetown KY for Sept. 6 when the Bearcat football team opens their 2008 season.  This will be a joint effort where alumni and students from the Lebanon, Louisville and Radcliff campuses can participate.
  • Homecoming 2008 is Oct. 10-13. This year there are some surprises in store - watch your e-news and your mailbox for further details!

With so much excitement going on, make plans to come back or to get involved.  I can always find ways for alumni to be active!  Call me at 800-BEARCAT, ext. 6813 or email alumni@mckendree.edu.

Sincerely,

Become a Mentor for Students
In cooperation with the Career Services office, the Alumni Association is proud to present the Alumni/Student Mentoring Network. This is an on-line service that brings together current McKendree students with McKendree alumni for career development, informational interviews, mentor opportunities and networking. There is no charge to participate and information provided is strictly confidential.

Students may search the database for career field, type of employment, degree earned and other key terms. When those key terms match your profile, students may contact you via e-mail, and you will have the opportunity to determine whether to move ahead in a mentoring relationship. The same holds true for mentors; you may search the database for students that match your qualifications and then offer them your support as a mentor.

To become a mentor, click here

Online Directory for Alumni!
Use the Online Directory for Alumni to connect with your classmates. The directory works like "Facebook" – you can set up your own profile that will be available for alumni to see.  Others may use your profile to contact you and you may do the same with their profiles.

There is no cost to participate, however we require you to “opt-in” because we want to maintain the privacy of our alumni and allow only those wishing to participate to do so. Over 175 alumni have already connected. Send an e-mail to alumni@mckendree.edu and get your user ID and password. Then you can set up your profile and start connecting with other McKendree Alumni! Once you're set up, all you need to do to access the community is click on this link and save it in your "favorites."
