Welcome Letter

Dear Prospective Student:

I am pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for McKendree'spopular master's program in higher education administrative services. Offered completely online.

The landscape of higher education is changing rapidly. We hear daily about the rising cost of a college education, growing demands for greater financial and academic accountability, and diminished funding for higher education.

At the same time, our industry faces a loss of key administrative talent as baby boomers begin to retire. According to recent statistics, colleges and universities will need to boost hiring 14 percent by 2016 to fill this talent gap.
That’s good news for those seeking to begin or accelerate a career path in
higher education management. But cash-strapped institutions will be looking
to hire individuals who have the “right stuff”-- that is, the proven ability to apply
best-practice management strategies in key areas such as finances, enrollment,
information technology, student services, financial aid, human resources,
fundraising, athletics, physical operations, and public safety.

This program provides precisely the kind of hands-on, practical training that colleges and universities are looking for. Courses are taught by faculty drawn from the ranks of seasoned managers in higher education, not-for-profit organizations, and the business community. Essential theory is taught, but only to undergird the “roll-up-the-sleeves” instruction by faculty who have been tested in the real world.

The program is practical in another sense because it is structured to meet the needs of working professionals with five start dates a year to choose from. The Higher Education degree can be completed in 14 months while working full time. This could be the right program for you!

Sincerely,
