Registration Deposit Policy

The Board of Trustees of the college has approved a Registration Deposit which all students must pay prior to registering for the summer and fall terms.  The reason for adding this deposit and the accompanying late fees is that many students fail to register for courses until the term is already upon us, and others register for courses but really do not intend to return to McKendree. This makes planning for courses, housing, etc., extremely difficult.  It also means that students who do not plan to return are holding spaces in classes that may have long wait lists.  The new policy provides an incentive for students to act responsibly toward the college and their fellow students.

Registration Deposit:
*All returning students must pay a registration deposit of $100.00 which will be applied toward the following year's tuition.  This is not an additional fee; the money will be applied to tuition expenses for the fall termThis deposit must be paid prior to pre-registration and is mandatory.

Please make payment of your registration deposit to the Business Office prior to your registration time.  Payment may be made by mailing a check to the Business Office, by calling 618-537-6404 to pay with a credit card, or by stopping by the Business Office to pay in person.  Failure to pay the deposit will stop you from pre-registering (the following message will appear when you try to register:  Missing Registration Deposit - please contact the Business Office.)

Late fees:
*Students who register after May 31st but before July 15 will pay a late fee of $50.00 in addition to the $100.00 deposit.

*Students who register on or after July 15 but before August 15 will pay a late fee of $75.00 in addition to the $100.00 deposit.

*Students who register on or after August 15 will pay a late fee of $100.00 in addition to the $100.00 deposit.

*Late fees are not refundable and do not apply towards tuition.  (While the Registration Deposit will be applied toward your tuition, the late fees will not be.)

Refunds of the $100.00 Registration Deposit:
*Students who inform the college of their intent not to return in the fall prior to July 15 will have $75.00 of their deposit refunded.

*Students who inform the college of their intent not to return in the fall prior to August 15 will have $50.00 refunded.

*Students who do not inform the college of their intent not to return, or do so after August 15, will forfeit the deposit.
