Mission Statement

Holman Library provides information resources and services to
support the mission of McKendree as stated in the University’s mission statement.

Holman Library’s mission is accomplished by:

  • Planning, coordinating, evaluating the selection, acquisition and maintenance of information resources for the University.
  • Providing services to assist users in developing information literacy skills for life-long learning, including locating, accessing, using, and evaluating information resources.
  • Providing facilities for appropriately housing information resources and the related equipment, services, and staff.
  • Providing effective management of resources, services, facilities, and personnel to create an attractive, stimulating and safe environment where information may be easily accessed and used.
  • Responding to the changing state of technology and the curriculum by continually  evaluating collections and services, implementing change as appropriate.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative agreements for resource sharing with other libraries.
  • Recruiting and retaining a highly qualified, motivated, effective, and numerically sufficient staff.
