Mathematics Activities
The mathematics department supports a wide variety of student activities. Mathematics majors can:
¨ Participate in McKendree MathCats - the campus mathematics club which sponsors a variety
of programs including movies, origami, student presentations, and other fun activities.
¨ Tutor at the campus math lab or tutor mathematics to fulfill service requirements for scholarships.
¨ Attend the Illinois section meeting of the Mathematical Association of America and regional meetings of the NCTM and ICTM. These meetings offer students the opportunity to present their work in professional setting, do mathematics, and have fun.
¨ Write a senior thesis on the mathematical topic of their choice during Senior Seminar (Mathematics 490).
¨ Participate in a wide variety of paid summer internships (Research Experiences for Undergraduates).
¨ McKendree University received funding to run a summer research program in Summer, 2009: Knots at McKendree!
¨ Enjoy being a member of the mathematical community!
