Find Books and More Using WorldCat Local from Holman Library to Across the Globe

WorldCat Local is the latest thing from our friends at OCLC. Holman Library is pleased to offer this cutting edge service to the McKendree community.
What does it do? You already know OCLC as the connection between the world’s libraries and for their fine FirstSearch databases. WorldCat Local connects different systems in order to provide a more integrated experience for users. You’ll be thrilled about the quality of the new searching interface and all of the quality data now available in one search.

It’s as easy to use as A, B, C…

A) Select WorldCat Local from the Library’s homepage.

B) Once you’re at WorldCat Local, you may choose between searching only Holman Library or searching worldwide. The Advanced Search feature provides even more options.

C) The Advanced Search allows you to include one or all of the FirstSearch databases when searching,

VuFind I-Share

As of June 1, library users will notice a change to our online catalog. The familiar interface of I-Share is being replaced with a new interface called VuFindVuFind offers library users a different way to search and find library resources. Library users may access the new I-Share catalog from our homepage by clicking on I-Share: Books & More under the Quality Information column.

To begin using the new catalog, users will need to create a new account. This will include creating a username and password in addition to entering your borrower ID. You may create any username / password combination. We are suggesting that you make the combination something that you can easily remember. In this new system, the Holman Library staff will not be able to help you with your username and password. We can still look up your library borrower ID, however. Your library borrower ID is the 14 digit number that you used in the previous I-Share catalog.
Once you get to the new catalog welcome page, you must click on Login. From here, you can sign in or create a new account. All of your previous I-Share information can be accessed through buttons on the right side of the screen once you login.
If you need to request items from other I-Share libraries, you can do that by selecting ‘All I-Share Libraries’ from the drop-down menu. After you search and find an item to request, click on the Request Item link near the bottom of the screen.
