Research Services and Information Technologies Librarian

McKendree University is seeking a Research Services and Information Technologies Librarian to advocate for, assess and provide research services and library instruction to on-campus and distance learners.  Research assistance is provided in person or via phone, email, text, and chat.  Instruction is delivered in the classroom or via online learning platforms such as Collaborate, online tutorials, mobile technology and embedded library resources into faculty Blackboard courses.  Provide research assistance from the library’s reference desk, develop library instructional materials and manage the online and print reference collection.

The position is responsible for the library’s website as well as social media, works with online database vendors and is responsible for routine online database maintenance.  The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of information resources; and possess excellent teaching and interpersonal skills, an ability to work within a team environment, and a commitment to information literacy.

MLS from an ALA-accredited library school; one (1) year professional experience providing library research assistance and library instruction services using information technologies; demonstrated knowledge of online databases and reference resources; experience with integrated library systems and computer technologies, including an understanding of the delivery of library services via the Internet is required.

Experience using the Voyager integrated library system, content management systems [Blackboard preferred] and knowledge of emerging and mobile technologies in providing library services; experience in website development; second master’s degree in an academic area relevant to the McKendree curriculum or a bachelor's degree in some aspect of information technology is desired.
