Head Powerlifting Coach

McKendree University, Lebanon, Illinois, is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a full-time head coach for the power lifting program.  The McKendree University power lifting program will begin competing in 2014-15. McKendree University has a new strength and conditioning facility which will open in December of 2013 and will be the home of the powerlifting team.  The new power lifting coach will have the opportunity to build the program from the ground up.

The successful candidate will minimally possess a bachelor’s degree. It is preferred the candidate have at least 2 years of powerlifting coaching experience or 5 years of experience as a powerlifting competitor and be certified with the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Experience with the United States Powerlifting Federation (USPF), Southern Powerlifting Federation (SPF), United States of America Powerlifting (USAPL), International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) and having a Westside Barbell Certification are preferred.

The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting student athletes to participate in the new program, managing the operational budget of the program, assuming responsibility of overseeing the development of the in-season schedule and out-of-season practices and workout arrangements, and maintaining compliance with all guidelines and regulations.  The successful candidate will also assist the Strength and Conditioning Coach in delivering services to the other 24 athletic teams as well as fulfilling other University objectives in the area of health and wellness.  Travel required.
