Assistant Professor of Music Education

McKendree University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Education to begin August 2013.

Applicants should have an earned doctoral degree in music education or a related field and a minimum of three years of full-time K-12 instrumental music teaching experience.

Primary responsibilities will include teaching instrumental methods courses, band and choir organization, music education technology, instrumental conducting and secondary methods; directing the Concert Band; advising Music Education students; overseeing the student chapter of NAfME; working with the School of Education to prepare annual reports; and supervising student teachers.  Additional duties may include teaching courses in elementary school music, choral conducting and secondary methods, and marching band/jazz band techniques.
