Director, Master of Arts in Criminal Justice

The Division of Social Sciences at McKendree University seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty member (open rank) to serve as director of a new Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program. Position will begin in Fall 2014. The applicant must be committed to high-quality education and demonstrate excellent skills in facilitating the student-learning process at the graduate level.

The director will provide leadership, implement the program, manage the budget, recruit students, and staff classes.  Additional duties include teaching and advising at the graduate level, service on departmental and college committees, and directing academic programs. This is a 9-month faculty position with 12-month administrative duties. Appropriate release time and compensation for administrative duties will be provided.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Sociology; demonstrate a pattern of effective teaching, scholarship, and service in the academic setting; two years’ experience with supervision of faculty, budget management, and program development; ability to develop and lead a new academic program; and effective oral and written communication skills.
