Assistant Professor of Music Education

The McKendree University Department of Music invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Education to begin August 2017 at its Lebanon, IL campus. 

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate choral music education courses, developing and designing courses for the choral music education major, conducting at least one choral ensemble, actively recruiting choral majors, supervising choral music education student teachers, providing service to the institution, and maintaining professional visibility in the area community.  Depending upon the experience of the candidate, general music education courses and applied lessons also may be included in the teaching load. 

A doctorate in music (DMA or Ph.D.) is required; ABD with completion by August, 2017, will also be considered.  Applicants should be able to demonstrate a history of excellence in choral conducting and teaching (a minimum of 3 years in the K-12 setting) as well as the ability to manage and grow a university choral music education program.
