McKendree Model UN Frequently Asked Questions.

General Information

When and where is the conference held?

The conference is held during both the Fall and Spring semesters on the McKendree University campus in Lebanon IL. For specific dates involving when the conference is or when registration materials and resolutions are required, please visit the contact us page here or post any questions on blackboard.

How do I register my school for McKendree's Model UN conference?

Please visit our forms page here and make sure to email the registration, credential, and liability forms to modelun@mckendree.edu by the mentioned due dates.

Is there any place to stay during the conference?

There are a number of hotels in and around Lebanon IL, however McKendree does not have any housing available to students during the conference.

Do we need to order or bring food for the conference?

You may bring lunch for all students or eat in Ames Cafeteria on the McKendree campus for $5.50 per student.

Committee Information

What committees are avialable?

Currently, we offering the following committees:

  • 1st Political
  • 3rd SCH
  • 6th Legal
  • Special Political
  • ECO SOC
  • Sci Tech
  • Security Council
  • Historic Security Council

What am I allowed to bring into the committee?

Each delegate may bring their own prepatory materials as well as a placard with their country's name. However we do not currently allow any activated cell phones or laptops within the committees in order to allow for a fair and educational environment.

Delegate Information

What is the Dress Code for delegates?

The dress code for all delegates is professional western business attire. This includes a tie, jacket, and dress paints for men and nice formal wear or dresses for women. Also, credentials will be provided to all delegates and must be worn at all times while on McKendree's campus. 

Faculty Information

Are there meetings during session for faculty advisors?

Yes, the Secretary General will determine a time for a meeting to discuss any issues as well as future events and sessions with all Faculty members.

Does my school need to bring a faculty advisor?

Yes, all schools must bring at least one faculty advisor that is responsible for all delegates.

Resolution Upload Support

One of my files does not upload properly?

The issue is most likely a naming problem which can be solved by following the examples below. If this does not solve your issue, please contact the McKendree Model UN Staff here.

How should I name my file?

The document should be named in a proper format in order to insure that the file is uploaded and sent to the correct directory. Upper and lower case characters do not matter as all words will be changed to upper case. No spaces should be present in the name of the document. Each document should follow these examples :

ex1: year_session_committee_topic_country.doc

ex2: 2008_spring_ecosoc_a_usa.doc

Please use the following words within the name of each file to determine the session, committee, and topic area that a resolution covers.

Sessions available: (spring, fall)

Committees available: (1stPolitical, 3rdSCH, 6thlegal, SpecialPolitical, EcoSoc, SciTech, SecurityCouncil, HistoricalSecurityCouncil)

topics available: (A,B,C,D,E)
