The purpose of Army ROTC is to help the highly motivated, intelligent and resourceful college student receive a commission as a
Second Lieutenant
in the
United States Army.
Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corp (ROTC) is a college course designed to develop leadership and self-confidence in McKendree students. ROTC offers many opportunities which include: scholarships, leadership training, and career opportunities after graduation.
Scholarships
Federal Scholarships
· Full tuition, plus $1200 a year for books/fees and up to $5,000 a year stipend in cash
· No commitment until your junior year (unless on scholarship as a sophomore)
Leadership Training
· Classroom instruction: full college credit.
· Leadership Labs
· Physical Fitness Training
Adventure Training
· Fly in UH-60 Helicopters
· Rappel off Cliffs
· Water Survival Training
· Learn Life Saving Skills
U.S. Army Special Schools
· Airborne/ Air Assault School
· Northern Warfare School

· Combat Survival Training School
· Nurse Summer Training Program
Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) is one of the smartest college courses you can take. It offers opportunities and challenges that can put you on the fast track in life. You'll develop the confidence, self-esteem, motivation and leadership skills you'll need regardless of your career plans. The qualities that ROTC training instills will be vital to a productive and rewarding future.
ROTC is an effective course that combines a combination of academics and important hands-on training. You'll be offered physical and mental challenges geared to help you succeed in college and beyond. You will learn teamwork and be given responsibilities like teaching the junior cadets the same skills you have learned.
For its benefits, ROTC only requires a few hours a week. So it won't interfere with your required college curriculum or social life. In fact, you'll find ROTC a great place to form lasting friendships. McKendree ROTC
